Keles Sorgun Cheese Granted Geographical Indication by Turkish Patent Office

The Keles district’s traditional Sorgun cheese has been awarded a Geographical Indication (GI) certificate by the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office. The registration was secured through a coordinated effort by the Bursa Metropolitan Municipality’s Rural Services Department and the Sorgun Village Agricultural Development Cooperative.

The cheese is produced using natural milk from livestock grazing on the fertile soils of Keles, with no food additives, aromas, or flavorings added during processing. The GI status is expected to enhance the product’s brand value, expand its market share nationwide, and contribute to the regional economy of Bursa.
