Kelingking Beach to receive Rp3.2 billion permanent stairway

The Klungkung Regency Government plans to construct a permanent stairway at Kelingking Beach in Nusa Penida, Bali, to replace the currently dangerous and steep descent. The project is valued at approximately Rp3.2 billion.

Funding for the infrastructure will be provided through corporate social responsibility support from PT Ctrip International Indonesia, a subsidiary of Trip.com Group, rather than the regional budget. This initiative is part of a broader partnership between local authorities and the company to modernize tourism facilities.

Authorities noted that the existing path poses significant risks, with tourists frequently suffering from slips, injuries, or severe exhaustion, sometimes necessitating search and rescue interventions. Previous collaborations between the regency and Ctrip have already resulted in new ticketing posts, pergolas, and equipment for Balawista water-rescue personnel.
