Kelowna begins $20 million Burtch Road extension project
The City of Kelowna has commenced work on the Burtch Road extension project, an infrastructure initiative designed to improve the local transportation network and sanitary sewer systems. The project aims to establish a continuous north-south corridor between Glenmore Road and K. L. O. Road, as outlined in the city’s Transportation Master Plan.
Starting Monday, September 14, northbound traffic on Burtch Road between Sutherland Avenue and Highway 97 will face closures for approximately two weeks. General construction in the area is expected to continue through the end of October, after which work will transition to night hours from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. Detour signs will be provided to assist commuters.
The total cost of the project is estimated at $20 million, with full completion anticipated by Spring 2027.
