Kelowna bus‑scooter crash kills 97‑year‑old man

On Sunday, July 26, 2026, at about 1:30 p.m., a 97‑year‑old man riding a mobility scooter was struck by a charter bus on Benvoulin Road near Rampone Road in Kelowna, British Columbia. The victim was taken to Kelowna General Hospital with serious injuries and later died; none of the bus occupants were injured.

Kelowna RCMP responded, deploying a collision reconstructionist and confirming that criminal activity and driver impairment are not believed to be factors. Cpl. Steven Lang, the RCMP media relations officer, offered condolences to the family and thanked members of the public who assisted at the scene.
