Kelowna Field of Crosses opens to honour Canadian veterans

The Field of Crosses in Kelowna, British Columbia, has opened to the public to honour veterans from World War I, World War II, and the Korean War. Located behind the cenotaph at Kelowna’s City Park, the site features the names of 227 soldiers, sailors, and air servicemen and women.

A ceremony was held at the Kelowna cenotaph on November 1 to mark the opening. During the event, Kelowna Mayor Tom Dyas paid respects to fallen Canadian soldiers. The ceremony also included tributes to four soldiers who died in a fire at CFB Wainwright last month.

Keith Boehmer, chair of the Field of Crosses Kelowna Committee, stated that the field will remain open to the public from November 1 to November 12.
