Kelowna fire investigation launched after suspicious shed blaze

Authorities are investigating a suspicious structure fire that occurred at a residence in the Rutland area of Kelowna on Friday morning. The blaze, reported around 9:45 a.m. at 495 Montgomery Road, originated in a shed on the property and damaged a second temporary shed.

Kelowna Fire Department Platoon Captain Scott Clarke stated that the fire is “suspicious in nature” and is currently being investigated by both the fire department and the Kelowna RCMP. Firefighters had to remove part of a fence between properties to access the fire and eventually had to breach several sides of the shed to ensure complete extinguishment.

No injuries were reported among the three residents or the responding firefighters, and no pets were harmed. Montgomery Road was closed in both directions following the incident.
