Kelowna ForChange group to vet and recommend council candidates for October election

The grassroots organization ForChange, based in Kelowna, has launched a mission to help residents evaluate and endorse candidates for the city’s municipal council election on Oct. 17. The group will assess up to eight council hopefuls—both newcomers and incumbents—through written questionnaires, in‑person interviews and public forums, and will publish its recommendations on Oct. 2. ForChange’s scope excludes the mayoral race and school‑trustee positions. Spokesperson Rick Maddison highlighted the importance of the election, noting four council seats are open and that the council oversees a billion‑dollar budget and thousands of decisions over the next four years. Potential candidates Maxine DeHart and Mohini Singh have not yet announced their intentions, underscoring the need for informed voter choices.
