Kelowna General Hospital faces allegations from cancer survivor

Leslie Chrusch, a breast cancer survivor from Castlegar, has come forward with allegations regarding an unsafe experience at Kelowna General Hospital following surgery.

After being diagnosed with Stage 0 cancer in 2023, Chrusch discovered new lumps in June 2025. Following medical consultations, she opted for a double mastectomy and DIEP reconstruction. Her surgery, originally scheduled for April 2026, was cancelled three weeks prior, with a new date not provided until August 12, more than a year after the initial discovery of the new lumps. Chrusch is sharing her story to warn others about her experiences during her hospital stay.
