Kelowna Rockets begin 2026 training camp with new management
The Kelowna Rockets officially commenced their 2026 training camp at Prospera Place on Thursday, August 27. The camp follows a challenging 0-3 performance by the team at the 2026 Memorial Cup.
The organization enters the 2026-27 season with several key leadership changes, including the appointment of Curtis Hamilton as the new general manager. Hamilton succeeds his father, Bruce, who served as the team owner for 35 years. Head coach Derrick Martin returns to lead the squad.
Among the roster changes, the team has acquired Madden Daneault, the first overall pick in the 2026 WHL Draft. Daneault, who previously recorded 149 points in 34 games for the U15 Red Deer Rebels, made an immediate impact during the first day of drills.
The Rockets are also navigating the departure of several key players, including Tij Iginla and Carson Wetsch, who are expected to pursue professional careers, as well as Hayden Paupanekis, Keith McInnis, and Parker Alcos, who will move to US college hockey.
