Kelowna 2026 Memorial Cup generates $50.9M economic impact
The 2026 Memorial Cup tournament, hosted by the Kelowna Rockets in May, generated a record-breaking $50.9 million for the Greater Kelowna area, according to the Canadian Hockey League (CHL).
A study conducted by T1 Agency, which reviewed over 500 survey responses, revealed that the 11-day event at Prospera Place saw significant visitor spending. Many fans stayed for a week or longer, participating in local activities such as wine tours, golf, boating, and hiking, which extended the economic benefits to businesses throughout the region.
The tournament drew sellout crowds, with a total of 47,780 tickets sold. While the Kitchener Rangers were crowned the championship winners, CHL president Dan MacKenzie noted that the event's impact reached well beyond the rink, supporting local charities, students, and community facilities.
