Kelowna to invest $25 million in Apple Bowl expansion for pro soccer

The City of Kelowna has announced a $25 million investment to upgrade the Apple Bowl, a move intended to attract a professional soccer team from the Canadian Premier League (CPL) by 2028.

The planned expansion includes the addition of a 3,000-seat grandstand on the east side of the stadium, a new scoreboard, and various amenities such as VIP suites, locker rooms, concessions, and media broadcast areas. Additionally, the project will involve renovating the westside grandstand and converting the playing field to artificial turf.

Mayor Tom Dyas noted that the project aims to provide a professional pathway for the more than 7,000 young soccer athletes in the region. The city has been collaborating with the CPL and its executive vice-president of infrastructure, Marni Dicker, on these plans since 2023.
