Kelowna unveils North Entry Monument on Highway 97
The City of Kelowna has unveiled the North Entry Monument, a new landmark located on Highway 97 adjacent to Lakeview Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Designed to strengthen the city's identity, the monument serves as a point of arrival for residents and visitors entering from the north.
The project was designed by CTQ Consultants Ltd. in partnership with local artists Crystal Przybille and Sheldon Pierre Louis. The design features interwoven bands intended to represent the diverse people, cultures, and landscapes of the region. A central aspect of the monument's vision was the collaboration between Indigenous and non-Indigenous team members.
The project has a budget of $1.17 million, though the final cost has not been confirmed as the project is not yet fully completed.
