Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu visits İzmir to advocate for justice and tradesmen
CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu conducted a two-day program in İzmir, focusing on justice, local economy, and social issues. During his visit, Kılıçdaroğlu visited Buca Prison to meet with detained former officials, including former İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Tunç Soyer. He called for the immediate preparation of indictments to prevent injustice caused by prolonged detention.
Kılıçdaroğlu also met with various groups, including tradespeople and local residents. He proposed the establishment of a Ministry of Tradesmen to protect small businesses from unfair competition by large chain markets and advocated for cheaper credit for local merchants. In his address to families seeking justice, he emphasized that seeking rights is not a crime and called for systemic solutions to issues like drug trafficking.
Separately, CHP Deputy Chairman Orhan Sarıbal criticized the government's economic policies, stating that the administration prioritizes interest payments over supporting farmers. He argued that current trade and inflation-control policies are causing significant losses for agricultural producers, particularly in onion and potato production, despite Turkey's high production capacity.
