Kemal Yalçın files lawsuit over Turkish entry ban

Author Kemal Yalçın has filed a lawsuit with the Ankara Administrative Court after being denied entry to Turkey. On December 9, 2025, Yalçın was informed of an entry ban during passport control at Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport.

Yalçın reported being detained at the airport for approximately 11 hours before being sent back to Germany. He stated that no explanation or legal basis for the ban was provided. According to Yalçın, he has no active criminal cases or convictions in Turkey, noting that he had traveled freely to and from the country for 30 years following his acquittal from political cases in 1995.

The author claims that despite requests from the Ankara Administrative Court, the specific reports or documents justifying the ban have not been provided to his lawyers for eight months, hindering his ability to mount an effective defense.
