Kemenkum NTB promotes intellectual property protection in West Nusa Tenggara
The West Nusa Tenggara Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkum NTB) has launched several initiatives to increase awareness of intellectual property (IP) rights across the region.
In a training session titled “UMKM Level Up 2026,” organized by the Provincial Cooperatives and SMEs Office, 30 small and medium enterprise (SME) owners received education on trademark protection. Expert Linda Maya Sastra emphasized that trademarks serve as vital economic identities that require legal registration to ensure business sustainability and protection against unauthorized use.
Additionally, Kemenkum NTB conducted a socialization event at the BRIDA NTB office to encourage researchers and academics to register their innovations. Speakers I Nyoman Sanistrya Utaya and Dicky Yosua detailed the six types of intellectual property: trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, patents, industrial designs, and integrated circuit layout designs. The goal is to provide legal certainty for local research and prevent external parties from misappropriating regional innovations.
