Kemer Municipality conducts beach and sea cleanup
In observance of World Cleanup Day, Kemer Municipality organized a simultaneous cleaning operation of the sea and coastline at Kındılçeşme Beach. The initiative was carried out by the municipality's Cleaning Affairs and Climate Change and Zero Waste Directorates, with support from local Blue Flag certified hotels.
Participants collected various types of waste, including plastic, glass, metal, paper, cardboard, and cigarette butts. Following the collection, the waste was transferred to relevant units for proper disposal.
The event also featured a demonstration of the ‘Çöp Kapar’ system, a tool designed to collect floating debris from the sea. This marine cleaning application was conducted in collaboration with the Antalya Governorate and QTerminals as part of the Blue Mediterranean Initiative. Kemer Vice Mayor Semih Top emphasized the importance of environmental awareness and the necessity of protecting natural resources to ensure the sustainability of the local tourism industry.
