Kempen committee approves plan for new municipal marketing company

The main and finance committee in Kempen has approved a motion to initiate the creation of a municipal marketing company. Supported by the SPD, CDU, and Die Linke, the move aims to address existing deficits in city marketing, tourism, and event management.

To facilitate this transition, an external consultancy will be commissioned to establish the necessary requirements for the city council to formally decide on the founding of the company. The initiative is supported by local business groups, including the Werbering Kempen and the Unternehmerkreis Kempen (UKK).

The new entity is intended to centralize tasks currently distributed across various administrative departments, such as public relations and tourism, to reduce coordination times and increase efficiency. Rather than creating a new administrative apparatus, the plan involves transitioning existing positions and budgets. Key objectives for the next three years include developing digital offerings, creating new event formats, and strengthening local networking to combat commercial vacancies and attract skilled workers.
