Kempen police seek new leads in 1988 disappearance of Dagmar Knops

Police in Kempen are renewing their investigation into the 1988 disappearance of Dagmar Knops, a 22-year-old student who vanished nearly 40 years ago. Knops was last seen leaving the ‘Lichtblick’ establishment at approximately 10:15 p.m. on March 28, 1988, after meeting with friends. She never arrived at her parents' home, which was located only 350 meters away.

Investigators are treating the case as a homicide, though no body has ever been recovered. In 2005 and 2008, an anonymous sender provided locations where the body was allegedly located, but these searches yielded no results.

The cold case is scheduled to be featured on the television program ‘Aktenzeichen XY’ on November 4. Authorities are offering a reward of 5,000 euros for information leading to the arrest of the perpetrator or perpetrators.
