Ken Daito establishes new ‘power-type action’ genre

Action actor Ken Daito is working to establish a new genre of performance known as ‘power-type action’ (pawa-kei akushon). Drawing on his background as a former Japanese arm wrestling champion, Daito aims to move beyond traditional styles that focus solely on speed or grace. Instead, his approach emphasizes the weight of strikes, physical strength, and the sense of mass in movement.

Daito describes his philosophy as ‘Rikigendo,’ or the way of manifesting power, which involves expressing one's abilities through action and challenge rather than mere display. He seeks to create a unique category that integrates martial arts, combat sports, and cinematic expression.

His upcoming projects include the film ‘Unso Dragon: Powered Ningen Battle Courier,’ which is scheduled for various distribution platforms and international screenings, including planned events in Indonesia and Vietnam.
