Ken Daito pioneers new ‘power-style action’ performance category
Action actor Ken Daito is pioneering a new performance style known as ‘power-style action.’ Unlike traditional styles that focus on speed or acrobatics, this approach emphasizes physical strength, muscularity, and the weight of movement to convey emotion and narrative through sheer force.
Daito, a former Japanese arm wrestling champion with a maximum grip strength of 85kg, integrates his background in martial arts—including Shaolin Kung Fu, full-contact karate, and Nihon Kempo—with power sports. His goal is to transform physical strength into a cinematic tool that provides visual impact and presence.
His upcoming project, the power-style action film ‘Unso Dragon: Powered Human Battle Courier,’ is scheduled for various releases. The film is slated for streaming on U-NEXT in July 2026 and Amazon Prime, with planned screenings in Bali, Indonesia, and Vietnam scheduled for September 2026.
