Ken Daito promotes new ‘power-style action’ performance style
Japanese action actor Ken Daito is promoting a unique performance style known as ‘power-style action.’ Drawing on his background as a former Japanese arm wrestling champion, Daito aims to move beyond traditional focuses on speed and technical skill by incorporating overwhelming physical power and muscular presence into his performances.
Daito is the director and star of the upcoming power-style action film ‘Unso Dragon: Powered Human Battle Courier.’ The project has scheduled distribution and screening plans, including a release on U-NEXT in July 2026, availability on Amazon Prime, and planned screenings in Bali, Indonesia, and Vietnam in September 2026.
The movement follows the lineage of Japanese action stars like Yasuo Kurata, who achieved international recognition in Hong Kong cinema, and places Daito within a broader evolution of action performers who act as both actors and creators of their own physical choreography.
