Ken Griffin criticizes Trump tax policies and tariffs
Citadel CEO and prominent Republican donor Ken Griffin has criticized recent Republican fiscal policies, labeling the decision to further cut taxes as a blunder that ignores the reality of the U.S. national debt, which has surpassed $40 trillion.
Speaking at the Future of Global Markets Conference in New York, Griffin argued that the lack of fiscal space makes renewing tax cuts problematic. He also characterized Donald Trump’s tariff battles with allies, including Canada and Europe, as a “disaster” that has fueled inflation and disrupted global supply chains.
Despite his criticisms of specific economic strategies, Griffin remains a major financial supporter of the Republican Party, having donated tens of millions of dollars to various Senate and Congressional leadership funds. He suggested that the primary solution to economic challenges is to focus on growing the economy rather than relying on tax-related maneuvers.
