Ken Jennings, the current host of Jeopardy! and former record-breaking contestant, has shared new details regarding his time as a player on the game show.

Reflecting on his viral 2004 moment, Jennings recounted a clue regarding a “long handled garden instrument and a loose seeker of pleasure.” He admitted that he buzzed in and answered “What is a hoe?” before realizing the potential impropriety of the response. He added a postscript to the story, noting that a fellow contestant in that game, a Lutheran minister, later told him he was glad Jennings had beaten him to the buzzer to avoid saying the same thing.

Additionally, Jennings admitted that during his historic 74-game winning streak, he occasionally fabricated personal anecdotes to fill the time between rounds while interacting with the late Alex Trebek. He explained that because the show did not fact-check these brief conversational fillers, he would occasionally tell strange or simple stories to maintain the pace of the broadcast.
