Ken Ofori-Atta honors late labor leader Dr. Isaac Bampoe Addo
Former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta has called for national honors for the late Dr. Isaac Akuetteh Bampoe Addo, the former Executive Secretary of the Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG).
In a tribute published in a funeral brochure, Ofori-Atta described Bampoe Addo as a fearless and patriotic leader who played a critical role in negotiating the national daily minimum wage, public sector base pay, and workers’ conditions of service. The two worked together for seven years, including during Ghana’s economic crisis and the Domestic Debt Exchange Programme.
Ofori-Atta noted that Bampoe Addo was known for his thoroughness and ability to secure concessions for workers without undermining national financial restoration efforts. He also credited the late leader with helping secure a Supreme Court ruling that allows civil servants to belong to political parties of their choice and for instrumental work in merging civil service and local government unions.
