Ken Paxton claims Trump's midterm convention hurt his Senate campaign

Texas Attorney General and Republican Senate nominee Ken Paxton reportedly stated in a leaked audio recording that Donald Trump’s recent midterm convention negatively impacted his campaign performance. During a fundraiser for donors and lobbyists, Paxton suggested the event may have hurt his chances in the upcoming election.

Paxton, who won the Republican primary after defeating Senator John Cornyn, is currently trailing Democratic nominee James Talerico in all major polls.

In response to the leaked comments, Donald Trump addressed the situation during a speech in Denton, Texas. Trump defended his continued support for Paxton, describing him as a long-time and loyal friend who stood by him during political attacks. While Trump acknowledged that Paxton can be a “nuisance” at times, he praised him as one of the best state attorneys general in the country.
