Ken Paxton defends legal record during Fox News interview

During a live interview at the GOP midterm convention in Dallas, Fox News host Bret Baier presented a list of legal and ethical controversies involving Republican Senate nominee Ken Paxton. The onscreen graphics detailed a series of incidents, including a 2015 securities fraud indictment that resulted in a pre-trial agreement, federal fraud charges in 2016 that were later dismissed, and 2020 accusations from staff members regarding bribery and abuse of power.

Baier also noted that Paxton was impeached by the Texas House over allegations of misuse of power, though he was acquitted by the Texas Senate. Additionally, Paxton was ordered to pay $6.6 million in 2025 for violating the Texas Whistleblower Act.

In response to the list, Paxton defended his record by drawing parallels to Donald Trump, stating, “When you're fighting, they come after you.” He argued that Trump faced more indictments and impeachments than he did, suggesting that legal challenges are a consequence of protecting the interests of his constituents.
