Ken Paxton reportedly claims Trump’s GOP convention hurt polling

Leaked audio has revealed that Texas Attorney General and Republican Senate candidate Ken Paxton privately criticized the impact of Donald Trump’s GOP midterm convention on Republican polling numbers. In the recordings, Paxton reportedly told conservative donors and lobbyists that the event caused polling numbers to drop for various candidates.

In public remarks in Denton, Texas, Donald Trump addressed Paxton, describing him as a loyal ally who has been “at my side more than anybody,” while simultaneously making several jabs. Trump jokingly referred to Paxton as “a pain in the ass” and mocked his appearance and manner of speaking, noting that he does not like the way Paxton dresses. Trump stated he had not heard the leaked audio at the time of his remarks.
