Ken Weeks celebrates 113th birthday as Australia's oldest person
Ken Weeks, Australia's oldest resident, is celebrating his 113th birthday. Born in Grafton, New South Wales, on October 5, 1913, Mr. Weeks shares his birthday with Joao Marinho Neto of Brazil, who is turning 114 and is currently the oldest man in the world.
To mark the occasion, Mr. Neto sent a birthday message to Mr. Weeks, who responded with a video message. While women currently lead the list of the world's oldest people—including 117-year-old Ethel Caterham from the UK—the two men have exchanged well-wishes.
Mr. Weeks has lived a life characterized by industrious work, including building roads, driving vehicles, and assisting with wartime airfield construction during World War II. His granddaughter, Eunice, attributed his longevity to his resilience, independence, and faith.
