Kenan Yavuz Ethnography Museum in Bayburt Wins European Museum of the Year Award

The Kenan Yavuz Ethnography Museum, built from reclaimed village materials in the village of Beşpınar, Bayburt Province, Turkey, was named European Museum of the Year, surpassing 90 international competitors. Founded by businessman Kenan Yavuz, the museum showcases traditional Anatolian life and uses authentic stone and wood from nearby abandoned homes, creating an immersive cultural experience.

Following the award, local officials met with museum founder Kenan Yavuz to discuss joint projects aimed at preserving cultural heritage and boosting sustainable tourism in the region. The discussions emphasized expanding visitor programs, coordinating stakeholder efforts, and promoting Bayburt’s historic and natural assets as a tourism draw.
