Kenan Yavuz Ethnography Museum receives European Museum Academy award

The Kenan Yavuz Ethnography Museum, located in the Beşpınar village of Bayburt's Demirözü district, has received the inaugural ‘Weiden Your Scope’ award from the European Museum Academy (EMA). The award was presented during a ceremony in Alicante, Spain.

Named after Dr. Wim van der Weiden, the founder and first president of the EMA, the award was decided by votes from 100 museums across 24 different countries. The recognition honors museum practices that are inclusive, human-centered, and possess a broad vision beyond their own borders.

Furkan Yavuz, a founding board member of the museum, stated that the institution was established to preserve the ancient cultural heritage of Anatolia and protect social memory against the homogenization of modern life. Following the award, the museum reported receiving various collaboration proposals from international cultural institutions.
