Kendo Takasaki defeats Yawata Shō 7-1 to advance in 2026 Summer Koshien

In the third day of the 108th National High School Baseball Championship at Koshien Stadium, Kendo Takasaki (Gunma) beat Yawata Shō (Shiga) 7‑1, securing its first opening‑round win in two years. Pitcher Satoshi Ishigaki threw a complete game, recording 11 strikeouts and allowing just one run.

The decisive moment came in the fifth inning when Takasaki’s lineup erupted for six runs, highlighted by a two‑run double from Sho Ooi and consecutive timely hits from Yui Iwai, Hikari Toyonaga and Sho Kanzaki. The victory moves Takasaki into the second round of the tournament.
