Kendrapara implements heavy security for centenary Lakshmi Puja

The town of Kendrapara is celebrating the 100th anniversary of its Gajalakshmi Puja festivities despite a cyclone warning issued by the Meteorological Department. Thousands of devotees have gathered at various pandals, including locations such as the Old Bus Stand, Badahat, Tinimuhani, and New Bus Stand, to view idols adorned with gold and silver ornaments.

To manage the large crowds and ensure public safety, the district police administration has deployed extensive security measures. This includes 22 platoons of police force, multiple superintendents, inspectors, and hundreds of constables and Home Guards. Surveillance has been bolstered by the use of drones, 32 CCTV cameras at key locations, and body-worn cameras for officers.

Special teams have been formed to manage emergencies, and temporary police outposts, bike patrols, and striking forces are in operation. For the immersion procession, the deployment will increase to 35 platoons. Authorities have also implemented specific traffic and parking arrangements and deployed plainclothes teams to prevent theft and harassment.
