Kendwa Sheha Fatma Othman Pandu drives community development in Pemba

Fatma Othman Pandu, appointed as the Sheha of Kendwa in the Mkoani district of Pemba in 2021, has been credited by local residents with driving significant community development.

Residents note that her leadership has addressed long-standing challenges in the area, including inadequate healthcare access, poor educational infrastructure, lack of clean water, and difficult road conditions. Her tenure is being highlighted as an example of effective female leadership in alignment with international standards such as the UN Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
