Kengurüse Memorial Football Tournament enters 10th edition

The 10th edition of the Captain (Late) N Kengurüse, Mahavir Chakra Memorial Football Tournament is scheduled to take place from November 2 to 10, 2026. The competition will be held across venues in Kohima and Chümoukedima.

Organized by the Spear Corps and Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (North) in collaboration with the Nagaland Football Association, the tournament will feature 20 teams competing in a knockout format. The opening phase, including 12 pool matches and four quarterfinals, will be hosted at the Indira Gandhi Stadium in Kohima. The tournament will then move to the Chümoukedima Football Stadium for the semifinals, third-place playoff, and the final.

The total prize purse has been increased to ₹8.69 lakh, an increase of ₹2.22 lakh from the previous edition. The champion will receive ₹4,00,000, the runner-up ₹2,00,000, the third-place finisher ₹1,00,000, and the fourth-place finisher ₹75,000. Individual awards include prizes for the Golden Boot, Player of the Tournament, Best Goalkeeper, and Best Midfielder.

Team registration is set to open on September 1 and close on September 30. The draw of lots and fixture announcement will occur on October 7.
