Mexico wins historic three medals at 2026 World Rowing Championships

Mexico achieved a historic performance at the 2026 World Rowing Championships in Amsterdam, winning a total of three medals: two gold and one bronze. This marks the first time the nation has secured more than one medal in a single edition of the event.

Kenia Lechuga secured the gold medal in the women’s lightweight single sculls (LW1x) with a time of 7:29.16. This victory completes her collection of world medals following previous silver and bronze finishes in 2023 and 2025. The duo of Aylin Ibarra and Melissa Marquez won gold in the women’s lightweight double sculls (LW2x) with a time of 7:10.02.

In the men’s category, Alexis Lopez earned a bronze medal in the lightweight single sculls (LM1x), finishing with a time of 6:52.06. This achievement represents the first world championship medal for a Mexican male rower.
