Kenji Fujimori announces return to Peruvian politics
Kenji Fujimori, the younger brother of Peruvian President Keiko Fujimori, has announced his return to politics. The announcement was made via a promotional video for his podcast, where he stated he has decided to join a movement that he claims “represents really to the people” and possesses a clear proposal for the country's future.
In a separate, more satirical presentation alongside comedian Tulio Loza, Fujimori joked about joining a fictitious movement called ‘PaPePiPoPu de Camotillo, el Tinterillo’. He humorously explained the acronym as standing for ‘Partido, Peruano, Picante, Popular, and Puñales’.
The former congressman previously received a suspended four-and-a-half-year prison sentence for influence peddling related to the 2017 political crisis involving former President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski. While he has not yet officially named a formal political organization, his return marks a shift from his previous stance of remaining distanced from partisan activity.
