Trump responded, saying he will "work with Congress to transfer control" of the Kennedy Center to his administration. The name change, made in December, had renamed the venue "Trump Kennedy Center" after Trump placed allies on the Center’s board, prompting legal challenges from the Kennedy family and Democratic lawmakers. The judge also postponed a planned two‑year closure of the Center pending a fuller assessment, while allowing essential repair work to continue.

The dispute highlights ongoing tensions between the Trump administration and cultural institutions, and underscores the judiciary’s role in enforcing naming rights tied to historic figures.
