Kennedy Center strips Donald Trump's name from its façade
Following a federal court ruling that the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., could not be renamed without Congressional approval, workers removed former President Donald Trump's name from the building’s façade. The removal, carried out behind a tarp after the deadline was extended due to weather, was filmed and streamed online.
The name change had been imposed after Trump appointed a new board and renamed the venue the "Trump Kennedy Center," prompting a wave of artist cancellations and resignations within the institution. The court order required the letters to be taken down, and the work was completed on Friday, restoring the original "John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts" signage.
