Kennedy Library recognized in American Libraries Design Showcase
American Libraries magazine has released its annual Library Design Showcase, highlighting innovative new and renovated library facilities across the United States and Canada. This year’s selection features 15 libraries, with over two-thirds of the projects focusing on renovations or adaptive reuse to address sustainability, accessibility, and historical preservation.
Among the featured projects is the Kennedy Library at Cal Poly, which received recognition for its $78 million renovation. The project, designed by The Miller Hull Partnership, focused on expanding student study and collaborative spaces across five floors. The renovation successfully integrated elements of the original 1980 design while reducing the building’s energy consumption by 30% through flexible, multi-use spaces and improved environmental efficiency.
