Kenny Cox, former Louisiana lawmaker and 9/11 hero, loses home to fire
A house fire in Mansfield, Louisiana, has left former State Representative Kenny Cox and his family homeless. The blaze, which occurred on August 17, 2026, destroyed the family residence.
Cox, a retired U.S. Army lieutenant colonel and recipient of the U.S. Soldier's Medal, is recognized for saving at least a dozen lives at the Pentagon during the September 11 terrorist attacks.
The fire resulted in injuries to Cox's daughter, who is currently recovering from burns. Additionally, the family's two dogs perished in the incident. The family of six is currently staying in hotels while they attempt to assess the damage and begin the rebuilding process.
