Kenny Noland commits to Michigan basketball

Michigan men’s basketball head coach Mike Boynton has secured the commitment of Columbia University guard Kenny Noland. Noland, a 6-foot-2 guard from North Carolina, joins the Wolverines following recent court rulings regarding NCAA legislation that granted the high school class of 2022 a fifth year of eligibility.

Noland, an All-Ivy level player, averaged 17.1 points per game during his final season at Columbia. He was a leader in three-point shooting, free throws, and minutes played, and recorded a career-high 28-point, 11-rebound double-double against Dartmouth.

His arrival provides veteran presence and depth to the Michigan backcourt, where he is expected to compete for a role alongside Elliot Cadeau and Trey McKenney. Boynton noted that the program continues to monitor roster opportunities, including the potential return of former senior Roddy Gayle Jr., though Gayle faces hurdles regarding exhausted eligibility.
