Kenny Omega discusses passing AEW torch to Will Ospreay

Kenny Omega has addressed his recent loss of the AEW World Championship to Will Ospreay at All In 2026. Speaking on The Anime Effect podcast, Omega revealed that he intentionally chose Ospreay to lead All Elite Wrestling into the future.

Omega explained that he can no longer maintain the rigorous full-time schedule required of a world champion. He stated that his “mental choice” was for Ospreay to take over because of the performer's ability to capture the fans' imagination and deliver high-level performances. Omega noted that he does not feel disappointment regarding the title loss, but rather feels he lost to someone hungrier who can meet the schedule the fans deserve.

Reflecting on the match itself, Omega shared that he experienced significant anxiety leading up to the event, specifically worrying about potential injuries or health issues like stomach problems. However, he described a profound sense of intuition while observing the ring setup that reassured him the match would proceed successfully from start to finish.
