Kenscoff declares mourning for interim executive Jean Massillon
The municipality of Kenscoff has declared a period of mourning following the death of interim executive agent Jean Massillon, who passed away on October 9, 2026, following a sudden illness.
Massillon was recognized for his commitment to the community, particularly his efforts to defend the mountainous commune against the expansion of armed groups. The Prime Minister's office praised his decision to remain with his citizens despite the climate of violence and forced displacement in the region.
Commemorative activities include a public tribute scheduled for Saturday, October 24, in front of the town hall, followed by a vigil at the Karibe Hotel in Pétion-Ville. Funeral services are set to take place on the morning of Sunday, October 25, at the Baptist Mission site in Kenscoff.
Regarding the leadership vacancy, Marie Guerda Désilus of the interim municipal council stated that the appointment of a successor rests with the Ministry of the Interior and Territorial Collectivities and the Prime Minister's office.
