Kenshi Yonezu sets record with 40 weeks at top of Billboard JAPAN animation chart

Kenshi Yonezu has achieved a record-breaking milestone with his single ‘IRIS OUT’, the theme song for the film ‘Chainsaw Man: Reze Arc’. The track reached number one on the Billboard JAPAN ‘Hot Animation’ chart for its 40th week, setting a new record for the most weeks at the top of that specific chart.

Since its release in September 2025, the song has broken numerous domestic and international records, including the highest weekly streaming numbers in Japan and the fastest track to reach 100 million streams. The music video and the ‘Reze Dance’ shared on X have both surpassed 200 million views on YouTube.

In the Billboard JAPAN 2026 first-half charts, the song secured 11 titles, including the ‘JAPAN Hot 100’. Additionally, Spotify ranked it as the most played song in Japan for the first half of 2026. The associated film, ‘Chainsaw Man: Reze Arc’, has earned over 29.7 billion yen in global box office revenue and is scheduled for exclusive streaming on Prime Video starting September 19, 2026.
