Kent Ekeroth reported to police for comments on voters

Kent Ekeroth, a member of the Sweden Democrats, has been reported to the police for agitation against a minority group following comments made during a live interview with P4 Dalarna. During the broadcast, Ekeroth referred to certain voters as ‘voting livestock from abroad.’

Political scientist Zeth Isaksson from Stockholm University described the remarks as dehumanizing and antidemocratic, noting that in a democracy, all citizens have the right to participate in elections. A local politician from another party in western Sweden has filed the police report regarding the incident.

In response to the controversy, debate surrounding the treatment of minority voters has emerged. Critics argue that questioning the agency of Muslim and Arabic-speaking voters by suggesting they are ‘deceived’ or manipulated undermines their status as independent citizens and serves as a way for political parties to avoid responsibility for failing to connect with these demographics.
