Kent Resident Saed Ali Mirreh Pleads Guilty to ISIS Support

Saed Ali Mirreh, a 21‑year‑old resident of Kent, Washington, entered a guilty plea on July 22, 2026 in U.S. District Court in Seattle for conspiring to provide material support to the Islamic State of Iraq and al‑Sham (ISIS). He and 19‑year‑old co‑accused Tomas‑Kaan Jimenez‑Guzel planned to travel from Seattle to Istanbul and then into Syria to join ISIS fighters. Mirreh purchased an airline ticket for November 2025, communicated details about training, weapons and improvised explosive devices, and was arrested at his Kent home on November 4, 2025.

The case, originally filed in the District of New Jersey, was transferred to the Western District of Washington. U.S. District Judge Richard A. Jones set sentencing for October 16, 2026, with a potential sentence of up to 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. Under the plea agreement, both the government and Mirreh will not appeal a sentence of 20 years or less. The investigation, conducted by the FBI, also linked the plot to other conspirators arrested in Dearborn, Michigan on October 31, 2025.
