Kentaro Ito cast in Mei Nagano's ‘Himachi no Jōō’ drama

Kentaro Ito has been cast in the upcoming DMM TV original drama ‘Himachi no Jōō’, which will begin exclusive streaming this winter. The series marks the first time actress Mei Nagano will serve as a producer in addition to starring in the lead role.

Based on the popular manga by Kurese Kayahara, which has achieved over 170 million cumulative page views and 1.2 million copies in sales, the story is set in the Asahimachi district of Tottori Prefecture. The plot follows Ayane, a former top cabaret hostess from Kabukicho, as she attempts to manage a club and aim for the top of the industry while working as a ‘black suit’ staff member.

Ito will play Jun, a former middle school classmate of Ayane who claims to be her ex-boyfriend. Jun manages the ‘Bird Lady’ cabaret club in his hometown, but the business is struggling with significant debt and deficits. The announcement included new character visuals featuring the leads in staff attire.
