Kentaro Maeda to star in horror film ‘Kyoto O’

The horror film ‘Kyoto O’ (巨頭オ), based on a long-standing internet urban legend, is scheduled for a nationwide release in Japan on December 25. Directed by Ryota Kondo, the film marks the first leading role for actor Kentaro Maeda.

The story follows Haruma Takao, a young man investigating the truth behind his father's death following his mother's passing. His investigation leads him to a mysterious village and a forbidden entity known as ‘Kyoto O,’ a legend that originated from a brief post on an internet message board in 2006.

Shiori Kubo, a former member of Nogizaka46, will star as Shio Tajima, Haruma's fiancée. Maeda described the project as a work where ‘the fear of humans and the tension unique to horror coexist.’
