KENTECH and Korea Power Exchange partner to advance power grid modeling
The Korea Institute of Energy Technology (KENTECH) and the Korea Power Exchange (KPX) have signed a memorandum of understanding to advance power market and grid simulation review models. This collaboration aims to address the increasing complexity of future power systems caused by the expansion of renewable energy and changes in market regulations.
A central component of this initiative is the ‘KPG Platform’ (Korean Power Grid Platform), a simulation model developed by KENTECH to analyze power markets and grid operations comprehensively. Through this partnership, the two organizations will share data and interpretation technologies, conduct joint research on simulation models, and facilitate the exchange of research personnel.
The goal is to enable proactive responses to rapid changes in the power grid environment and to pre-evaluate the effects of introducing new market systems, providing a technical foundation for decision-making during the energy transition.
