Kento Shiobayashi remains at VfL Wolfsburg amid scoring struggles

Japanese forward Kento Shiobayashi is facing a challenging period with VfL Wolfsburg in the German second division. Despite being a candidate for transfer this summer, club executive Dieter Häcking revealed that Shiobayashi convinced manager Tobias Streibl of his value during pre-season training, leading the club to decide he would remain with the team.

Shiobayashi is currently competing for a starting position in the central attacking role. In a recent match against Cottbus, he entered as a substitute but was unable to score. The match ended in a 4-4 draw after Wolfsburg surrendered a three-goal lead, a result that drew frustration from manager Streibl, who described the collapse as something that ‘should not happen.’

Local media reports suggest that while Shiobayashi is integrating more into the squad, he is still working to fully adapt to his new environment and find his scoring form.
